That dopamine hit along with the pride we feel after a job 'well done' means the work cycle often never ends. We tell ourselves I’ll just do a little more to; get that project finished; get that promotion; earn extra cash. But do we have an end goal in mind or are we like Jack, who works all day and gets no play?
If you too are like many of us who find downing tools to do the things we love; whether that’s hanging out with family/friends, exercising, taking up a hobby or watching Netflix (maybe not so much of that 😆) we need to set boundaries. These are my favourite boundary tips when it comes to work to ensure living life to the full.
STRUCTURE WORKING HOURS: If we want, we can work evenings or weekends, yes. But don’t plan Mon-Fri, 9-5, and then end up working evenings and weekends. A workday structure means we can fit in the things we love. What’s more Stanford researchers found that after 50 hrs+ pw, our output falls and really plummets after 55 hrs pw. 🕔
HAVE DAILY AND LONG TERM GOALS: Even if there were ten of us, we’d possibly still want to achieve more! So every day, write a list of goals for that day; then finish! For long-term goals, whether it’s a milestone or a financial goal, move on to the next exciting chapter in your life once you reach it⚡.
DON’T TAKE HEALTH FOR GRANTED: Eventually, life passes each and every one of us by, so live life now, none of us knows if we’ll be here tomorrow.
However, if you’re finding it hard to get everything you need to do done, maybe I can help. I’m a freelancer (Design and UX solutions) and by hiring me, you’ll have more time to do all the extra things you love, so drop me a line today. 🎨🏃♀️👊🏻 📺
