If you're recruiting - consider this

Can any other graphic designers relate to this?

I saw a job post a while back for a graphic designer.

The job spec went something like this:

“The Role

Adobe Creative Suite (etc) plus PowerPoint … “

✅ Expected and essential for a graphic design role.

Then it went on…

“Experience in Adobe After Effects essential, and a knowledge of Premiere.”

✅ Can be expected for some roles

It went on again…

“Knowledge in creating prototypes, wireframes, and user flows “

🤷‍♀️ Eh, is this graphic design?

PLUS the next requirement was for certain programming skills and social media experience too 🤦‍♀️ I might have seen copywriting too 😐.

I glanced back at the original heading and thought how a more appropriate title could be “Graphic / UX designer with Programming and Social Media Skills”.

I understand though, they were a small business hoping to get the most from their new recruit. For jobs like this freelancers are a very viable option. There are many reasons that this could work with great benefits to businesses who use freelancers.

🌟Hire the talent you need when needed and less likely to lose that talent to another company if not working full time

🌟A freelancer is a specialist in that area

🌟Only pay for the time you need with flexible contracts

And the list goes on and on.
